Servicing gives an opportunity to inspect and clean relevant parts of an air-conditioning system and assess its operation. The appropriate work depends on the manufacturer, model, age, condition, use and access. Routine maintenance and investigation of a reported fault are different scopes of work.
What a service may involve
The work depends on your equipment and how we can access it. A service may include the checks and cleaning below; the quote sets out what is included for your system.
- Inspection and cleaning of accessible filters and relevant indoor-unit components.
- Review of accessible condensate drainage and any fitted pump.
- Inspection of accessible outdoor-unit condition and airflow obstructions.
- Operational checks, control settings and a review of reported symptoms or displayed error codes.
- A discussion of findings and any further investigation or work indicated.
How often should it be serviced?
Use the manufacturer’s guidance and any applicable warranty conditions as the starting point. A frequently used workplace system or a dusty environment may need a different maintenance schedule from a lightly used room. Tell us the last service date, typical operating hours and any previous issues so an appropriate interval can be discussed.
Symptoms worth mentioning
A clear description helps distinguish a routine service request from a fault investigation. Include when the problem started, whether it happens in heating or cooling mode and whether it affects one unit or the whole system.
- Reduced cooling or heating, or a change in airflow.
- Water dripping indoors, unusual smells or a new noise.
- An error code, repeated shutdowns or a control that no longer responds.
- Changes following building work, a long period of non-use or previous repairs.
Servicing, fault finding and repairs
A service does not guarantee that a fault will be resolved or that future breakdowns will be prevented. Diagnosis may require a separate visit or further checks, and repair work can depend on parts availability and equipment condition. Any additional work and cost need agreeing before proceeding.
- Refrigerant is not a consumable that should simply need routine topping up. A suspected loss needs assessment.
- Parts, repairs, refrigerant work and specialist cleaning should not be assumed to be included in a routine service price.
- Tell us about existing warranty cover before arranging work so its conditions can be considered.
Routine care between visits
Follow your own model’s operating manual for user-cleanable filters and normal care. Keep the areas around units clear so airflow is not obstructed. Switch the equipment off as directed by the manufacturer before permitted user cleaning; do not open electrical or refrigerant components. If you notice water near electrical parts, a burning smell or repeated electrical tripping, stop using the system and arrange appropriate professional assessment.
Planning access and scope
Tell us how many indoor and outdoor units you have and whether any are above stairwells, on roofs or in restricted areas. Access equipment, parking arrangements and opening hours can affect the visit. Compatibility, scope, price and availability are confirmed for the equipment and location rather than assumed from a generic service description.

Your questions, answered.
Do you service systems installed by someone else?
Enquiries are welcome. Send the make, model, age if known and photographs. Whether we can take on the work depends on the equipment, condition, access and service required.
Will servicing restore performance?
Cleaning or correcting a maintenance issue may help, but poor performance can have several causes. The outcome depends on the findings; a service is not a guarantee of restored capacity or lower bills.
Is a service the same as a refrigerant leak check?
They are not interchangeable. Any specific refrigerant checks and record requirements need considering for the equipment concerned and agreeing within the appropriate scope.
What if I cannot find the model number?
Send clear photographs of the unit and any safely accessible identification label, plus the remote control and error display if relevant. Do not climb or remove covers to obtain them.
